Call to Worship:

Set down your burdens in front of Jesus—

It’s time to worship!

He will accept us with all our failings and hurts.

The Lord of mercy meets us!

Who is this king, who heals and cleanses?

This is Jesus Christ, the lamb who was slain and rose again!

Let us worship him!

Confession and Lament (may need 2 slides for this lament)

Lord, we believe any and all loss grieves you.

We know senseless violence and the misuse of power against your image bearers disgusts you.

Lord, Help us to weep with those who weep.

We confess that we do not always know how to respond to the brokenness around us,

especially when we are not ourselves directly affected by it.

Help us to be compassionate people, and pray on behalf of those around us.

We are tired and long to see your redemption.

In a world where darkness seems to invade and advance,

Let your kingdom come.

Let your will be done.

On earth as it is in heaven.

Assurance of Gospel Peace:

Do not be deceived:

The Lord’s faithful love, not revenge or disgust,

Confronts our hearts when we are trapped in sin.

He reveals our sin to set us free.

When we confess our sin, he forgives and cleanses us!

We rise again from confession to have renewed life,

Just as Christ was raised again,

Just as we will be raised with him.

He is faithful and just to forgive as he promised!
