Call to Worship:
Set down your burdens in front of Jesus—
It’s time to worship!
He will accept us with all our failings and hurts.
The Lord of mercy meets us!
Who is this king, who heals and cleanses?
This is Jesus Christ, the lamb who was slain and rose again!
Let us worship him!
Confession and Lament
Our hearts lie to us when we say we have no sin,
So we need the Spirit to show us the truth.
When our sins rise up and accuse us,
let us not hide from you as Adam and Eve did.
No matter how much it hurts, help us run to you for mercy.
Our pride, our wounds, and our desires
all get in the way of confessing to you
and experiencing the joy of salvation every day.
Create in us a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within us.
Assurance of Gospel Peace:
Do not be deceived:
it is the Lord’s faithful love, not revenge or disgust,
that confronts our hearts when we are trapped in sin.
He reveals it so he can set us free.
When we confess our sin, he forgives and cleanses us!
We rise again from confession to have renewed life,
just as we were raised in new life from baptism at first,
just as Christ was raised again,
just as we will be raised with him .
He is faithful and just to forgive as he promised!
