Scripture Reading: Romans 1:16-17 (Guest Pastor)
Call to Worship:
Lord, we come with hearts joyful or burdened,
With hearts questioning or calm.
We come with worries and warring desires.
We come aware of our faults and failings.
Lord, we lift our eyes to You!
Our loving Father,
You delight to be near to your people!
As you draw near to us,
Lord, we lift our eyes to You!
Confession and Lament:
Good and merciful God,
We create extra rules for ourselves and others,
As if Your sacrifice was not enough to cover all our sin.
These rules we make hurt us, and they hurt others.
Forgive us when we make our salvation about our works.
We put up barriers between people and Your open arms of salvation.
Give us the courage to tear these walls down.
Give us courage to be led and to lead others to the greatest news:
We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in the finished work of Christ alone.
Assurance of Gospel Peace:
Being justified by faith,
We have peace with God through Jesus!
Let us continue to walk by faith with our eyes on Jesus,
Holding tightly to this hope we have been given
This hope that is holding onto us!
Increase our faith, day by day, to boldly share this good news,
Extending the grace that has been extended to us.
Thank You, Father, for this gift, too wonderful for words!
