Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 22-25

Call to Worship:

Let us rejoice!

Let us rejoice!

Our God is so good;

he teaches us his ways,

and we are not ashamed of them!

Our God is good!

His ways and his word give life!

Confession and Lament

People look to justify how they treat others,

using words that bait opponents and signal to allies.

But real people suffer while arguments abound.

Our biases get in the way of humility.

Lord, you give us examples of structures of mercy and justice,

By which harm to the weak can be reduced,

and the integrity and lives of people can flourish.

Teach us how to implement your mercy better.

Your character is at the forefront of your laws.

Help us to write it on our hearts.

Assurance of Gospel Peace:

How great a love of God has come,

That in the place of our trampling of each other,

Jesus allowed humanity to trample him—

Then he overcame it to rise again!

Hallelujah! He is risen!

And he teaches us to live for him,

as if we have nothing to fear—

Because we will rise again with him!
