Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 1-4

Call to Worship:

Sing to the God of promise

Who creates and renews life!

With God nothing is impossible!

For all the earth is the Lord’s

And he has set it in order.

We trust your word and rejoice!

Confession and Lament

We want to feel secure.

Even though you lead us, Lord,

we sometimes act in destructive ways

to force the outcome we want.

Forgive us when we stray and calm our fears.

We keep score of good and bad deeds.

We make risky agreements and partnerships.

Or, we justify controlling others,

In order to secure the future we hope to see.

Forgive us and give us renewed hearts.

Assurance of Gospel Peace:

In Christ, God triumphs over every earthly power - 

And he has given his people an inheritance!

For the Lord gives justice to his people;

He has compassion on his servants.

In kindness he has chosen his people to be his own,

In Christ, we are his treasured possession!
