Scripture Reading: Exodus 20:16 - Ninth Commandment
Call to Worship:
Blessed be the Lord God,
Who alone does wonders!
Blessed be his glorious name forever.
The whole earth is filled with his glory!
Amen and amen!
We sing of his faithful love forever!
Confession and Lament:
Lord, we mourn where the church has been unfaithful.
She has justified what is evil,
Instead of valuing life as you would.
We ask for mercy and justice to flow in Jesus’s name.
Remove the seeds of sin in our hearts that are against our neighbor.
Help us to recognize that wickedness grows in us, too.
Renew our hearts and transform us into your likeness.
Assurance of Gospel Peace:
God loves peace even more than we do,
So much so that he came to us
when we were stuck in sin.
He comes to save the oppressed but also the oppressor.
He removes the walls of hostility and realigns hearts.
He teaches enemies how to love.
While we struggle with prejudice and bias, he is near.
He establishes new life that leads to flourishing.
He did what the world believed was impossible.
When we have to leave our old ways behind, he is near.
