Scripture Reading: Exodus 19-20:3 (First Commandment)
Call to Worship:
God of great power and faithfulness,
You are mighty in both word and deed.
We praise you for your holiness!
You are God over all of creation,
And yet you are mindful of us.
You are worthy of all of our devotion.
Lord, we stand in awe of you!
Confession and Lament:
Our God knows that we are prone to wander.
We often trust in things that cannot save us.
We cling to our status in life, the things we own, or our relationships.
Lord, help us to see through the illusion of our idols.
Even when our affections turn away from him,
Our Father continues to pursue us in love.
Lord, lead our hearts back to you.
Assurance of Gospel Peace:
The love of Jesus pursued us even to death on a cross,
Taking the weight of our sin upon himself.
There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ.
We have been forgiven - past, present, and future!
His resurrection from the grave offers us new life in him.
His spirit alive in us strengthens us to obey God’s commands.
Praise be to God!
