Bless the Lord, O my soul,

and all that is within us,

bless his holy name!

Because he has forgiven all our sins,

Bless the Lord, O my soul.

Because he heals all our diseases,

Bless the Lord, O my soul.

Because he redeemed our life from death,

Bless the Lord, O my soul.

Because he crowns us with steadfast love and mercy,

Bless the Lord, O my soul.

Because he satisfies us with good things so that our youth is renewed like the eagle,

Bless the Lord, O my soul

and forget not all his benefits!

Father, you are an everlasting and holy God.

And in light of your holiness, we are reminded of our sin.

Lord, have mercy on us!

Father, we forget that all we need is found in your Son’s salvation for us.

We often turn away from him and believe the empty promises of this world.

Lord, have mercy on us!

*Help us believe that Jesus has already given us what we need.

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth,

so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;

He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever.

He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.

As far as the east is from the west,

So far has he removed our transgressions from us!

Like a father shows compassion to his children,

The Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
